My background is.... ?

I'm of reiving stock but vaguely Norse too. I was born and raised in Edinburgh, but home is really Sutherland. Having lived abroad, I'm convinced there is a peculiar Scottish world view. I share it.

I felt/feel farthest from Home.......

Usually in a hotel room somewhere in the Far East when I've just started a 2 week business trip. But it passes quickly as I learn about the culture I'm visiting.

For me, Home is...

My wife and 2 wee sons, wherever they or I may be. But also a deserted beach in Sutherland, Edinburgh in the Festival, enjoying a dram in Shanghai, and anywhere above 3000 feet in Scotland.

I remember as a child........

Time spent with my dad in Sutherland, one minute building massively complicated sandcastles, the next fishing in a burn in the hills. The warmth and wisdom of the Far North folk remains with me.
