My background is.... ?

My mother's Irish and my dad's grandfather was also, so I connect strongly with Ireland's history and culture. But I was brought up in Argyll and feel very Scottish.

I felt/feel farthest from Home.......

I was 15 when I first travelled to America with a band. I had never been so far away or for so long. I was excited by the new experiences but had an overwhelming intermittent sadness. Home sickness.

For me, Home is...

For me, home is Seil Island. Though I only lived there from the age of 13 to 18, it's where my parents live and it feels very much like the family home. Being on the island energizes me.

I remember as a child........

Kiloran Bay, Colonsay. I was 10. We'd been jumping into the sea from rusted dome of metal sunk in the sand. A Chinook helicopter flies in. Beach evacuation. It was an old mine. Controlled explosion.
